Smarty Jones was a well-loved and inspirational racehorse who came close to winning the Triple Crown in 2004. Born in Pennsylvania, Smarty Jones had a short but impressive racing career consisting of 8 wins and one place in nine starts, earning $2.6 million plus an additional $5 million bonus from Oaklawn Park. Smarty descends from Triple Crown winners Secretariat and Count Fleet as well as other Triple Crown race winners such as Northern Dancer, Foolish Pleasure, and Man o' War, the greatest race horse of the twentieth century. Smarty Jones stands at stud at Three Chimneys Farm in Midway, Kentucky, occupying the same stall that housed Triple Crown winner Seattle Slew.
